Challenge of the Day: Be Positive!

Good morning Lovelies,

How is everyone doing this lovely FRIDAY!  That's right, tis Friday, a most splendid day of the week!  Even if you do work tomorrow, Friday's are still good days!  Everyone's in a better mood on Fridays.  It makes dealing with the public so much easier!  And, usually places are busier on Fridays, so that makes work go by faster, right?  #findingthegood That just happened, eheheh...Anyway, I hope that you guys are all doing great, ready for an amazing day!

So, I have to share...last night I was watching Beachfront Bargain Hunt on HGTV and there was a Canadian couple looking for a beach home in Cabo San Lucas for under $250,000.  Now, you'd think for that budget, they wouldn't get great views or the place would be kind of run down, something.  And you'd be right, they didn't have the greatest luck with finding a place, but, and this is the important thing I want to make a note of, they seriously didn't have a negative thing to say about any of the places!  Seriously, I kid you not, they'd go out into the backyard which would be all of like two feet wide, and they'd be raving about how great it would be for their little dogs.  They'd see this tiny little window, with no view, and they'd say something about how they liked the arch of the window.  I mean, really folks, they found the good in every situation!  There were things that Jordan and I were like, "Are you kidding me?  That's crap!"  And the couple would find something good about it!  And Jordan and I were laughing at the ways that they continued to find the good in everything because even when it was terrible, the worst they'd say is that they didn't love it, but it was still good in some way.  At the end of the show, I couldn't help but think how great that must be for them.  They have trained themselves to find the good in everything, and I think that's a lesson that a lot of us could use more practice with, myself definitely included.

So, today, my challenge to myself is to change my perspective from the way I normally look at life, and find the good in everything.  The traffic on the way to the coffee shop this morning was slower than I would have liked, but I tried to tell myself, "I'm not in a hurry, I have time, it's okay!"  Now, normally I can be a bit of a high strung person....hahahaha, sorry, that was just such an understatement I couldn't even try and pass it off as true.  Normally, I'm very high strung, so this isn't going to be easy for me!  I am a person that tries to do things as efficiently as possible, as quickly as possible, as well as possible.  I don't like slow drivers, I abhor customers that stand in front of my window having a tennis match with themselves-back and forth, "should I do this, oh what if I do this", etc.  And I can't stand people that do stuff half-ass.  I take pride in doing everything in life as quickly as possible, as accurately as possible, and better than expectations.  I am one of those people that has a hard time slowing down and really being in a moment.  My yoga and meditation practices have helped with that.  I can now slow down more than before, but even that is probably still less than most people.  So, with that in mind, well, you can imagine how difficult today is going to be for me, BUT, I am going to do it!  I am going to find the positive and not complain about anything or be a negative Nancy at all today...*deep sigh* here goes!

So, I'd like to invite all of you my lovely readers to do the same, to find the good in every aspect of your day and instead of being irritated or frustrated and therefore wanting to complain about it, find the good in it!  I know I've heard that one of the quickest ways to make your life easier is to understand that everyone is doing the best they can from where they are.  I mean, I know it's true for me, I don't go around trying to be difficult with anyone or making anyone else's life difficult.  So, I can assume that when people come up to me at work having their internal tennis match in front of me, it's not that they're trying to be difficult, it's that they're genuinely just confused, and maybe if I slowed down myself, I wouldn't be upset about it.  So, this is my challenge to you, on a Friday of all days: find the good in everything!  Embrace your inner Canadian!  :)  You guys can do this, probably better than I can!  But, either way, whether you're great at it or terrible at it today, it's just the first day.  It'll take a little practice to get used to this new way of thinking, but if you really put in the effort, that can be how you automatically think!  Over the years you've been trained to have the mindset you have now.  You can change that autopilot mindset.  I believe in you!!  So with that, I'd like to wish all of you a most pleasant Friday!

xoxo
